John graduated from Curtin University in 1990 during his highly decorated career playing AFL at clubs Collingwood, Richmond and West Coast Eagles. He also achieved a post graduate qualification, as no surprise, in Sports Physiotherapy in 1992. Following his football career John returned to West Coast as a conditioning instructor and Physiotherapist. He also travelled with the WA athletics and state football teams as a physiotherapist.
After retiring from the football world, he set his goals on Ironman triathlon and has successfully completed two events at the World Championships at Kona, Hawaii. A contrast to managing athletes was a 2-year stint travelling the world as Luciano Pavarottis personal physiotherapist. His professional interests are in treating back pain, wear and tear in shoulders, knees and hips with a huge emphasis on strength-based rehab training. Golf swing biomechanics utilizing the latest ball tracking equipment is another area that John enjoys working in. Outside of work time John enjoys managing his Angus Cattle stud just north of Cowaramup with his wife Chris
Christine has a degree in Physiotherapy and a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from Curtin University Western Australia. This specialty enables an advanced understanding of pain especially originating from the neck and back. With 30 years’ experience in private practice Chris has been involved in the football program at Hale School and looking after boarders at Hale and St Mary’s for many years. She has an outstanding knowledge of the young growing body and the aches and injury’s that present. Chris also has qualifications in LASER therapy application, Cancer rehabilitation and Polestar Pilates.
Her professional areas of interest include treating Vertigo, necks, backs, shoulders, headaches, tendon injuries. Chris will often utilize movement exercise classwork - (Pilates) to help individuals regain their strength and pain free movement. In her spare time, she loves her surfing (where she has won x2 state open tiles in surfing), golf, running and swimming whilst trying to allow some time to enjoy her small farm.
Ellissa graduated from Curtin University in 2013. Since then, she has been predominantly working with older adults in the community and in Residential aged care. It is through this experience that she has developed a passion for helping people with their balance, falls prevention and management of chronic health conditions.
She has joined the Cowie Physio & Pilates team whilst she completes her Pilates training with Polestar, under the guidance of Chris. Her goal is to empower people to adopt sustainable healthy habits so they can enjoy every stage of life. For fun, she likes to go for long walks with her dog Freddy, spend time at the beach, gardening, running and fishing.
Julia has been a Manual Therapist for 8 years and has completed her training in Lymphoedema Therapy at the Australian Institute of Lymphoedema in Sydney. She is fully qualified in CDT (Combined Decongestive Therapy), also called CLT (Complex Lymphoedema Therapy) which includes: Assessment and consultation, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Compression Therapy (garments/compression bandaging), Exercises, Skin care and scar management, Education for homecare.
Julia has treated voluntarily at the Solaris Cancer Care centre in Perth in 2020, where she became interested in Lymphoedema Therapy. She is a member of the Australian Associations ANTA and ALA. Her treatments are claimable with all Private Health Insurances.
Being also a Remedial Massage Therapist (Dip) and Life Coach with a great passion for health, wellbeing, recovery and balancing body & mind, Julia has a deeper knowledge of the interaction of body and mind and the importance of balancing both. She treats her clients with empathy, expertise and experience – always focusing on the patient’s individual needs and health goals to recover, improve their function, restore and maintain their overall well-being.
Outside of her work in the clinic, Julia enjoys kayaking, gardening, markets, reading, traveling, camping and long walks on the beach with her husband and Ozzie the dog.
Jen is a dedicated remedial massage therapist thrilled to be based in Cowaramup, with over a decade of experience in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga and Hatha Yoga. Jen also works as an Allied Health Assistant in the South West, providing therapy home visits for clients living with disabilities.
This experience has given her a solid foundation in rehabilitation, mobility support, and holistic care, all of which she incorporates into her massage practice. Over the years, she has helped individuals enhance their physical and emotional well-being.
Jen’s approach to massage combines her extensive knowledge and experience with a heartfelt commitment to helping clients feel their best and be empowered. She creates a safe space for clients by tailoring each treatment to the unique needs of the individual and how they are in the moment. Jen fosters an environment of trust and relaxation, working towards the client’s goals.
Outside of work, Jen enjoys CrossFit, painting, yoga, gardening, swimming, and spending time with her spirited 4-year-old. She also values being an active part of her community.
