BPPV is a condition that can make you feel very dizzy and very unwell. Sometimes nausea and vomiting can accompany it. The source of this condition is in the semicircular canals (SCC) of the inner ear where loose fragments detach from a deep part of the inner ear and float in the endo lymph into one or more of the three SCCs.
These fragments then swirl around in the endo lymph fluid in the SCCs so when you move your head you have the sense that you are still moving and hence feel very dizzy. Trained Physiotherapists with this condition can perform certain assessments and maneuvers to guide this fragments back into the deeper part of the inner ear away from the SCCs resorting your sense of balance.
